Thyroid pathologies in nuclear medicine
نویسندگان
چکیده
The presented work describes the thyroid pathologies and nuclear-medical diagnostic approach, in order to obtain a differential diagnosis monitoring of various neoplasms; specifically, it importance radiometabolic treatment with iodine 131, after thyroidectomy surgery. Through study conducted patients suffering from disease, undergoing metabolic radiotherapy, is shown that, equal distribution radioiodine, uptake at least 3700 MBq therapeutic dose obtained. All this can be seen through whole body scintigraphic framework, obtained use double-headed gamma camera collimators for high emission energies. Radiometabolic effective risk relapse, while radioiodine not recommended low-risk patients.

متن کاملNuclear Medicine in Thyroid Diseases in Pediatric and Adolescent Patients
Both benign and malignant diseases of the thyroid are rare in the pediatric and adolescent population, except congenital hypothyroidism. Nuclear medicine plays a major role, both in the diagnosis and therapy of thyroid pathologies. Use of radioactivity in pediatric population is strictly controlled due to possible side effects such as secondary cancers; therefore, management of pediatric patien...
متن کاملBenign thyroid disease: what is the role of nuclear medicine?
Nuclear medicine is directly involved in both the diagnosis and treatment of benign thyroid disease, which requires an understanding of the pathophysiology and management of thyroid disorders in addition to expertise in nuclear methodology. Thyroid uptake and imaging, the principal nuclear tests in thyroid disease, may be used as follows: (1) Differential diagnosis of hyperthyroidism: A very lo...
متن کاملHistory and Perspectives of Nuclear Medicine in Myanmar
Nuclear Medicine was established in Myanmar in 1963 by Dr Soe Myint and International Atomic Energy expert Dr R. Hochel at Yangon General Hospital. Nuclear medicine diagnostic and therapeutic services started with Probe Scintillation Detector Systems and rectilinear scanner. In the early stage, many Nuclear Medicine specialists from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) spent some time ...
متن کاملHybrid Phantom Applications to Nuclear Medicine
Annually, many people are irradiated for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Assessment of radiation dose and its related risks to patients are important issues in radiation protection dosimetry. The complex mathematical calculations of the absorbed and effective doses are now done with computers. The calculations are performed with the help of anthropomorphic computational models of human bod...
